A Babies To Champion Swim School

“Swimming lessons make kids so much smarter.” Griffith University study findings!

“The Benefits of Swimming”

In the nearly sixty years I have been teaching and coaching swimming I have always noted how much more switched on, more attentive and just plain smarter, the kids were who started early swimming lessons. Now a three year long worldwide study has confirmed these very facts. Researchers from the Griffith Institute for educational research surveyed over 7,000 parents of children under 5 in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.Their findings in brief showed children who participate in early years swimming lessons generally:

Achieved a range of skills earlier than the non-swimming population

And many of those skills are those that help young children in the transition into formal learning contexts such as pre-school and school as well as achieving physical milestones faster, the early swimming children scored significantly better in visual motor skills, and many mathematically related tests.

Their oral expression was also better as well as areas of literacy and numeracy “Many of these skills are highly valuable in other learning environmentsand will be of considerable benefit in later years”

NOW YOU KNOW !
There are lots more benefits from swimming lessons than just learning to swim and it never stops. The swimmers in our elite Training Squads are among the smartest in their school.

Babies

 6 weeks to 3 Years

We start babies with basic water familiarisation and submersions in our Aqua Tot classes at 6 weeks before progressing them through to levels where consistent, weekly attendance has produced large numbers of two year olds able to swim 25metres and three year olds swimming up to 1500metres.

Develops and refines the four competitive swimming strokes in levels 5, 6 and 7.

Our ‘DISTANCE SWIM WEEK’ allows swimmers as young as four and five years old to swim distances up to one kilometre. In these levels all pupils are competent swimmers and their strokes are developed in readiness for school carnivals and entry into squad training.
